Yellow school buses in the U.S.: 3 Facts

Interesting facts, rules and features of school buses.

  1. You don’t pay anything for the buses.
The government, or rather the taxpayers, pays for them. As you know, taxes in the U.S. are high and the entire tax system is very developed. You can’t hide “black” and “gray” income.
  2. Strict rules for students
At the beginning of the school year each student receives a card with all the information about the bus. Namely, the route number, your stop, the time and place to board/drop off, and general rules.

You can’t change the pick-up/drop-off location. It’s the same all year round.

If you want to go to a friend’s house after school, for example, you can’t do it without a special pass.

Just imagine, your parents need to write an application to the school administration stating that they are okay with you being able to take a different school bus to your friend’s house on a certain day.

  1. safe ride
Now, I want to touch on the topic of safety.

School buses are equipped with special STOP signs and a barrier stick.
When the bus stops, the bumper stick opens on the right side of the bumper to prevent a child from running out into the roadway in front of the bus.

Also, when the bus stops, the lights on the back of the bus flash and STOP signs are extended. This means that all cars must stop, even oncoming cars (oncoming cars can go only if there is a dividing line between the roads in the form of poles, roadblocks, etc.).
